The soul
The soul consists of the mind, will, and emotions, where the mind is split into the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is known in the Word of God (WOG) as the “spirit of the mind” because WOG uses the word “spirit” to refer to the subconscious spirit of man or the subconscious mind of man. We therefore have a subconscious that consists of two entities, the spirit of man and the spirit of man’s mind. Dreams generally come from the subconscious and therefore could be from God through the spirit of man, or from the soul through the spirit of the mind, where the latter is normally based on desires of the flesh or carnality. Other dreams can come from evil spirits. The spirit of the mind is where we store all our experiences that are transferred from the conscious mind when we go to sleep. I believe the state of this sleep is called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. When we repeat activities or learning, this reinforces the subconscious mind through REM sleep. When we consciously start to learn something new, it is difficult at first as the conscious mind learns through trials, analyses, testing, and practice, however, when understanding and knowledge are gained with enough mindful iterations stored in the spirit of our mind, we suddenly become proficient at the task without making much effort in our conscious mind or thoughts. This is how we renew the spirit of the mind, referenced in Ephesians 4:22-24, but of course, based on the Word of God, so that we can replace our old thinking (Old Man) from old worldly habits with the new thinking (New Man) based on the Word of God.
The combination of what we accept in our conscious mind, our will, and our emotions through repetition affects the spirit of the mind through sleep, which becomes our subconscious character or the medium by which we react to situations in life. If we then identify that those reactions are incorrect, we relearn what we now believe is correct by consciously acting out the new lessons so that they can be stored in the spirit of the mind. Only when we react to those new lessons automatically by intuition without too much thought, can we then say that we have replaced that part of our behavior or character. This is how we apply the learning of the WOG the spirit of the mind so that we can replace old habits with new ones.
The soul and body were made in God’s likeness
The spirit of man is breathed into mankind in the image of God (see in His Image) and will not change through experiences like the soul (spirit of the mind) does, however, God has not endowed it with omnipresence, omnipotence, and omniscience in this life or the next. What God has however given mankind in the spirit is exactly what came from God’s breath and is therefore identical to the same inherited aspects, which is a subset of God’s Spirit, and is therefore in His image but without the omnipresence, omnipotence, and omniscience, making man’s spirit not exactly like God’s Spirit. Jesus was the only one with the exact image of God, except that He could not be omnipresent in a body, which is understandable, as flesh and blood cannot permeate the cosmos like spirit can, which is why 1 Corinthians 15:50 says that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God or Heaven, i.e. Kingdom of Heaven is everywhere in the cosmos. Jesus however regained His omnipresence when He resurrected back to the Father.
The soul and body were made in God’s likeness because we do not have the same aspects or qualities as God does, for example:
- Our bodies might have the same shape or form but God is Spirit (John 4:24) and therefore does not have a flesh body, or even a spiritual body like angels, and therefore our body is in God’s likeness as opposed to image. Likeness means that they are similar but not identical. However, Jesus had a body in our likeness when He appeared to mankind to remove sin, but He received a glorious spiritual body when He resurrected back to the Father. When Jesus reappears at the rapture, we will be transformed to be like Him because we shall see Him as He is, as per 1 John 1:1-3. This means that the body will always be in the likeness of God because God is Spirit and has no body.
- Our soul has been made in God’s likeness as opposed to image because it needs to undergo life experiences to grow and mature into God’s ways, however, man has a choice, and therefore not everyone will follow a godly way of life. Those who do will get closer to God’s likeness, and eventually attain His image at the rapture because our soul will be in conformance with the spirit, and those who don’t want a godly way of life will deviate from His likeness. Therefore, because of free will, the soul is the driver of our behaviors and character even though the spirit of man should be in the driving seat, i.e. the soul should be nurtured into the likeness of the spirit God placed in man. The soul is, therefore, at birth, not in God’s image because it does not have all the qualities of God’s soul or spirit.
Some scripture examples of God’s likeness for the soul are as follows:
- Psalm 17:15 – The author states clearly that when he beholds God’s righteousness and is satisfied that when he wakes up, He is in the likeness of God. The author seems to understand that holding onto a belief and acting on it, in this case, righteousness, will affect the spirit of the mind (subconscious mind) during his sleeping hours because this is when our conscious mind transfers information to the spirit of the mind. Enough iterations of the same behaviors and beliefs will change the spirit of our minds to automatically do those things without conscious thought, and thus our spirit and subconscious mind (spirit of the mind) will agree and walk in unity. That’s how we change the spirit of the mind (subconscious mind) to eventually become the image of God as per Ephesians 4:22-24.
- 2 Corinthians 3:18 – Paul states that when we look in a mirror and behold the face of the Lord, we are changed from glory to glory. In other words, if we continue in the Word (Jesus) and act on it, we will be changed in our soul to become progressively more glorious with our continued study of the Word and thus become more like Jesus. This scripture ties in perfectly with Psalm 17:15 above, however, the word here is “image”, implying that we can eventually attain the image of Jesus through perfect obedience to the Word. I believe that will take place when our souls walk in obedience to the spirit, and probably only when Jesus reappears to rapture believers. 1 John 3:1-3 states that we will be like Him because we will see Him as He is, that’s why God said “Let us make man in our image and likeness” referring to a future time when our souls have developed to that point where they walk by the spirit, and our bodies have been transformed into glorious bodies, which should come with the rapture. Then we will be in His image (spirit and soul) because our souls will have been renewed to conform to the spirit which is in His image, and likeness (body) because God does not have a body as He is Spirit.
- Romans 6:5 – If we are planted in the likeness of His death, we will also be planted in the likeness of His resurrection. At first glance this seems to be a body issue which is true regarding Jesus’s death and resurrection, however, from a human perspective this is the death to our will or self and resurrection to His will, where the will is part of the soul, i.e. we die to ourselves (soul) and are raised into His likeness.
Some scripture examples of the God’s likeness for the body are as follows:
- Ezekiel 1:15 – Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. This is self-explanatory
- Acts 4:11 – And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men. Self explanatory.
- Philippians 2:17 – But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. Self-explanatory.
- 1 John 3:1-3 – Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. This means that we will be like Him in the body as it speaks of seeing Him.
The soul is the “I” or “Me”
The soul of man is the “I” or “Me” because it is where we make decisions based on free will which forms our behaviors and character, but I believe that the spirit should be the driving force behind our character. The problem is that the soul is essentially devoid of knowledge at birth and needs to be developed to get into the likeness of God through experiences, and this also pertained to Adam and Eve as God tests all His Creation. The fact that they missed it means that they were not at the pinnacle of being in the likeness of God. The more we read, understand, and do the Word of God, the more we come into line with His likeness, thereby bridging the gap between God and man. We however cannot do this on our own, but it is possible with the Holy Spirit assisting us once we are born again by the spirit. How close we come to God/Jesus’s likeness depends on us and our desires as we are challenged by the world and its temptations which move us away from the will of God.
The Garden of Eden represented the Kingdom of Heaven which was available to them before they sinned, and they communed with the Tree of Life (Christ) which brought delight or pleasure to man. They were blessed by the rivers and land that supplied their needs. They did not have the indwelling Holy Spirit as they had not sinned and therefore could hear God clearly in an audible manner and through their human spirit. However after they sinned, God could not keep them in the garden otherwise they would live in sin forever. God did not want them to live in sin forever because God created man to have a relationship with Him but sin separated them from God, therefore access to the Kingdom of Heaven and the Tree of Life was removed from them whilst God instituted predetermined plans to reconcile man to Himself. Today we need the indwelling Holy Spirit to assist us in overcoming this sinful life and to prosper us as believers.
We must be born-again to regain our relationship with God
It is in the born-again experience that the spirit in man is regenerated, however, the soul remains corrupt which is why we need to renew our minds, which refers to the conscious mind (Romans 12:2), and the spirit of the mind, which refers to the subconscious mind (Ephesians 4:23), by studying the Word of God and building a relationship with God. Obviously, Jesus had no sin and thus when He was born His soul still had to experience life and overcome the temptation of sin just as we do, and He had to subject His soul to the Father’s will, which He conclusively succeeded in doing. So it was Jesus’s soul that needed to be developed and maintained to fall in line with God’s Spirit based on His learning and experience of life in the physical world. Therefore it is the spirit of man that is in the image of God, and the spirit of Jesus that is in the exact image of God, and the soul should follow suit through obedience, i.e. the point of life is to get our souls to match God’s spirit in us through obedience. When that happens we walk as God purposed us to walk in this life. See Psalm 17:15 which uses likeness to express that the author was in the likeness of God when he wakes up in the morning, i.e. the conscious mind transfers the day’s activities to the subconscious mind (spirit of the mind) when we sleep, and thus we become more like what we did that day. If activities were based on God’s activities, then more like God we become, or else more like whatever else we follow. Therefore likeness pertains to the soul because the soul is far from God’s image when we are born though it may have the foundational qualities of God’s soul.
The body itself is also in the likeness of God because God does not have a flesh or a spiritual body, therefore, likeness refers to the possibility that God has a similar form or shape to man.
Soul development and free will
When we are born, our mind is in the likeness of God because it has not yet experienced life and its challenges and the goal is to follow the spirit to attain the image of God (2 Corinthians 3:18), regardless of the challenges of life. The problem is that when we start the learning process, we seem to go astray because mankind has forgotten how to hear God’s voice, mainly because we are taught incorrectly by our parents and society at large. When the conscious mind starts to gather information via the five senses, and via the prompting of the spirit in man, we build our behaviors and character based on what we have learned, which is stored in the spirit of our mind (subconscious mind) when we go to sleep. Repetition of the same information and acceptance or rejection of the information reinforces our likes and dislikes in the spirit of the mind, which eventually become automatic reactions to situations based on what was learned. Of course, we cannot blame anyone for our mistakes or misunderstandings because they started way back in Adam and snowballed to the current timeframe through our ancestors, (Romans 5:12-13).
Free will or cloning
If God had given mankind the fullness of His Spirit then we would all be like clones of Jesus from a morality perspective, but with different purposes for God’s Kingdom. Of course, we would still never be part of the Godhead, which is omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent because only God will ever have those qualities. Not even angels were given those qualities, and they also have free will, which is why some fell from heaven and others did not. The problem with cloning is that there would be no free will as we would be clones based on morality, and God wants mankind to freely make that decision because it is the only way that we can become unique individuals who are free to love their Creator and life. I would hate to love someone just because I am forced to do so, especially when they are corrupt, which we see today with the WEF, UN, business elites, governments, etc. The law was similar, in that its objective was to force people to follow God, and hence, cloning would be the result if people followed God obediently through the compulsive law, i.e. law was never God’s plan which is why He never gave it until Moses (over 2,000 years later) because Israel continuously disobeyed Him. The reason for God giving the law was because of unbelief on the part of Israel, but the purpose was to protect man from sin and the consequences thereof, including oppression or even possession by evil spirits, i.e. guilt makes man try to refrain from sinning because he fears the consequences through the law and because of a dented pride.
The answer to man’s disobedience is not the law because it is compulsive and forces mankind to do what they do not desire to do, and therefore, they may act righteously but do not change their hearts. The law, however, had to be given because there was no one standing in the gap for mankind until Jesus came as a man, i.e. God gave man the Earth and, therefore, to claim it back from Satan a man had to stand in the gap. However, God always gave man free will though laws curb man’s free will because laws force man to do things as opposed to be who they are. However, since grace and faith have come through Jesus Christ, free will has been easier to implement by conditioning the heart through God’s Word and love but should not be an excuse to sin. Those who desire God will allow the soul to drive their destiny in conformance with God’s righteousness and Word, and therefore inherit the Kingdom of God and Heaven at the second appearance of Jesus. In other words, it is through trials and tribulations that we develop faith in God to enter the kingdom of God and Heaven, 2 Timothy 4:7-8. Comforts in life do not prove our faith in God, but trials do because that is the hardest time in which to hold onto God who seems not to be helping us with our problems.
God wanted to give man free will in having a relationship with God, because where there is no free will there is bondage, slavery, compulsion, or the inability to be creative. It is the soul of man that is the catalyst for free will and individuality because that is where man makes choices based on what God puts in the heart, or what man experiences in the natural world based on the five senses, or a combination of both, i.e.: God wants man to desire Him out of a free will, not compulsion, and so, over time our choices inadvertently decide whether we want to conform to God’s image and likeness, or not. Even friendships in this life desire free will, not being forced to do something by someone who is an authoritarian. The best businesses are run where free will is given to individuals as long as they maintain their discipline, if not, they get fired, and we could say that is what happened to Adam and Eve.
God’s intention was always to give man a choice, and those who choose to believe and follow Him are those that He selects for His kingdom. Therefore God made man in His image and likeness but mankind had to maintain their likeness with God as they experienced things in the natural world through free will. Free will is imperative to identify a pure heart and motives, however, anything done through compulsion does not prove true motives because man will do anything to get ahead even if he has to feign love and obedience. I have been in legalistic churches and have seen this very clearly, and therefore I believe free will is also one of the reasons that God never wanted to give man laws as they are compulsive.
We could then say that the soul is the medium by which we become individuals because of free will and our choices are what bridges the gap between man and God, or separates man from God. This is also why God told man not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil because knowing the laws of good and evil interferes with free will by enticing man to try to do good through pride and compulsion and thus not needing God, for God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble, see James 4:6. The point is that God is the source of life, love, and knowledge and therefore wanted man to follow Him in obedience, just as children confide in their parents to take care of them. Man however decided that he could take care of himself by trying to understand good and evil to be like God, and therefore cut himself off from the root of life, love, and knowledge, which resulted in hardships and toil to survive instead of receiving life, love, and knowledge freely from God, see Genesis 3:14-19.
We are all unique individuals
Jesus (The Word) is a unique personality, just as we are, and has a specific divine role within the Godhead and no one else can replace Him as the Word of God or as the high priest and head over the church. All human beings will always be subordinate to Jesus Christ in this life and the next, even though we will be joint heirs (Romans 8:17) with Christ and therefore reign over the new Heaven and Earth with Him. The Word of God does not say what man will reign over but I guess that we will reign over all other creatures/creation which is what the fallen angels wanted, ie: they did not only want to assist mankind, they wanted to control mankind and act as their god. Some people may be put in leadership positions like the twenty-four elders but there is no indication of any other leadership positions. There is no doubt however, that sin, jealousy, pride, hatred, etc, will not be a concern as people will gladly go about their business which God has called them for, i.e. no need for money, police force, army, financial or medical institutions, etc.
Jesus is God and was with God the Father before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:19-20/John 17:5) and was, therefore, part of the triune God which consists of the Father, The Word (Jesus/son), and the Holy Spirit, i.e.: one God but three persons, or at least those are the only three personalities that the Word of God reveals. The Word (Jesus) was God before His incarnation, and Jesus (The Word) was God in the flesh during His incarnation (John 1:14), and therefore, He was the “son of man” because He was born of a woman, and He was the “son of God” because He was conceived of the Holy Spirit (God). Therefore God would never make a man in God’s exact image and likeness because:
- God gives all of mankind free will and disperses different abilities and desires to each individual, specific for their role in the kingdom, which ultimately results in people having unique personalities, just as the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are unique personalities.
- No human being besides Jesus can be part of the Triune God as omnipresent, omnipotent, or omniscient.
- Jesus is in God’s exact image because He is part of the Triune God with a unique personality within the Godhead and the Kingdom, and therefore there can be no other, though people can be sons of God just as Jesus demonstrated during his human existence, and just as we can be transformed into his likeness, referring to a glorious body (1 John 3:1-3), when He appears to establish the new Heaven and Earth where righteousness dwells.
- God wants us to desire a relationship with Him, not as cloned individuals, but as sons with unique and diverse personalities born out of free will, though we will never be part of the Godhead like Jesus. Imagine everyone being exactly like Jesus, there would be no real free will because Jesus is what He is as part of the Godhead, and cannot deviate from that role or personality because “HE IS WHAT HE IS” or He is the “I AM”. In other words, the power of the Spirit in Jesus is what makes Him what He is and therefore He has no desire to deviate from that role or personality, wherefore the soul is obedient to the spirit. For example, when we desire something very strongly, we no longer wish to deviate from it because we are bound to that thing out of love or joy, and effectively we do not have free will even though we may have the freedom to reject or deviate from that thing. This “bondage” to God’s ways is a good thing and should not be broken. Paul agrees with this type of bondage in Romans 6:15-23 when he says that we should be slaves to righteousness and be free from unrighteousness/sin. Jesus had that binding personality to righteousness and the Father’s will from birth because He is God. However, people are unique creations of God with free will. It is then up to us to follow or reject God’s ways and purpose for our lives through free will. I believe, however, that when we are caught up in heaven, right here on Earth, we will have specific roles and thus will not desire to deviate from that purpose.
- Jesus has a further role of being a high priest in heaven for mankind, which is why He was made like His brethren in the weaknesses of the flesh so that He can be merciful to our weaknesses and infirmities (Hebrews 2:17-18 ).
Mankind was made to have a relationship with God Who desires individuals to have different abilities, desires, and characters for His pleasure, and for the work in His Kingdom. When Jesus reappears and changes our vile bodies into glorious bodies (Philippians 3:20-21) in the new Heaven and Earth, we will always be in the image and likeness of God (1 John 3:1-3), and we will be co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17), but never part of the Godhead or as high priests like Jesus.
What is God’s likeness in mankind?
The spirit God breathed in man is in the image of God, therefore, it leaves only the body and soul to be in the likeness of God because the body is in the form or shape of God but God does not have flesh, and the soul is like God’s but not in conformance to God until it follows God, i.e. it needs development through life’s experiences. We also see that angels have spiritual bodies and sometimes manifest on earth in the form or shape of men, see Genesis 18. I believe therefore that the form of the body is in the likeness of angels as well, though different because they do not have flesh. Jesus though came in the likeness of man (Philippians 2:7) and we will be changed into His likeness because John says that we will be “like” Jesus when He reappears because we will see Him as HE is in 1 John 3:1-3. The human spirit however is only a measure of God’s Spirit, meaning that we don’t, and will never, have all the attributes of God as only God can be Omnipresent, Omniscient, and Omnipotent. Our spirit is therefore what makes us in the image of God. It is through the human spirit that God places gifts and abilities in man which is why some people are naturally better at doing certain things than others, but God has placed morality in everyone, whether we adhere to them or not. God never takes away the gifts and abilities that He gave us, whether we use them or not.
The soul of man is the “I” or “Me” and needs to be developed to get into the likeness of God through experiences, and this also pertained to Adam and Eve as God tests all His Creation. How close we come to God/Jesus’ likeness depends on us and our desires as we are challenged by the world and its temptations which move us away from the will of God.
The natural world in man’s greatest challenge
When God said, “Let us make man in our image and likeness” in Genesis 1:26, He already knew that man would be challenged in the natural world by the same sin that had already taken place in heaven through the pride of rebellious angels. Pride, love, hate, jealousy, and any other feeling or emotion, will first take place in the spiritual world (heaven) before it manifests in the natural world because it is a spirit that induces pride in people leading to carnal desires, and the very reason we should follow the Word of God and not our emotions and feelings. We, therefore, see that in Galatians 5:22-23 the godly fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, etc, because we follow God’s ways, and in Galatians 5:19-21 we see the devilish workings of the flesh, or carnal desires, such as adultery, witchcraft, idolatry, etc, which become bondage in our lives because we allow of emotions to control our actions. The workings of the flesh are carnal desires that take place in mankind through seducing spirits that induce feelings and emotions about something that is physically pleasurable but not in accordance with God’s Word which is how people are gradually moved away from God. An evil spirit can oppress a person because the person attaches himself to a certain pleasurable desire resulting in bondage, we thus need to choose our desires based on God’s Word and not our feelings and emotions.
Once fallen angels were thrown out of heaven (Revelation 12:3-4) they had to dwell in the Earth’s atmospheric layer and their main task was, and is, to make disciples of people and to control mankind through the deceit of many gods to prevent the true God from manifesting the new Heaven and Earth where righteousness truly dwells, which can only take place if humanity truly desires God and His Kingdom. (Ephesians 2:2-4) says that Paul called the demonic forces of our atmospheric layer the “prince of the power of the air”. They have been thrown out of heaven and will not be able to dwell in the heavenly atmospheric layer around the Earth (new Heaven and Earth), and thus will need to go into the pit (abyss) which is torment for them. They will therefore resist humanity’s belief in the true God until the end.
Their whole purpose is to change humanity’s belief system, and even humanity’s physical make-up, to ensure that humanity cannot hope and believe in God for a new Heaven and Earth where righteousness dwells (2 Peter 3:12-13). They have not been able to achieve this through communism in various Western countries, so now the devil is trying to do the same through the WEF, a communist organization feigning democratic values, but the result will be an enslaved population and a free “to do what they please” unelected global control group which complies with the Satanic law of “Do as you please”. The WEF is a devious scheme where billionaires of various corporations have been seconded to the WEF under King Charles and Klaus Schwab to consolidate global business models for the various industries and convince every country’s president to support them by promising resolution of future problems, but this will not come to fruition. They have already got control of the news, social media, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, investment industry, and information technology industry, and moving fast on the energy industry as they try to sideline Russia and any country that is rich in fossil fuels. They will use climate change as a measure to prioritize this industry under their stewardship to render Russia and its allies weaker nations. There is no doubt that they are very close to controlling the Earth’s resources and that could be rather problematic.
To have God’s presence is to feel His love, peace, and joy but the devil tries to counterfeit these as well. In this way, mankind will be worshipping false gods and turn their desires away from the one true God Who wants to change earth’s environment back to the point before the fall of Adam and Eve, where creation was not subject to futility (Romans 8:19-22). Because God gave man free will, He will not interfere with man’s desires, and thus it is up to man to decide who they worship and who becomes our God. Fallen angels know that when the Earth’s atmosphere moves from darkness (carnal) to light (spiritual) they will not be able to remain in it and will thus be imprisoned. They know that God wants all those whom He predestined to be saved to wake up to His calling and thus they have some time, which is why they are throwing their last stab at changing the world via the WEF. Is this not exactly what the WEF is trying to achieve through one universal religion which they know is a fake because it is a consolidated religion of many religions that are contrary to one another? They have also started consolidating governments and businesses through one central unelected government (WEF) to control energy, food, medicine, news, social media, etc. In other words, they are trying to ensure that the Earth’s resources are under their control, and in this way, they will always control the Earth, its people, and their religion, and know that God can do nothing about it because He gave the Earth to mankind.
Of course, the implication is that sin must therefore appear not to be sinful, but rather, the sin must appear as pleasurable to man, which can, and should, be enjoyed by mankind to the fullest, as long as the pleasures go against God’s Word. That’s why we see LGBTQ, transgender, abortion, same-sex marriages, mood-enhancing drugs, and abortion at the top of the liberal woke hitlist. Also, that’s why one of the main Satanic laws is “Do as you will” because that pleases mankind by falsely believing that they are free to enjoy sin’s fleeting pleasures.
Fallen angels will not disclose that they are the source of sin otherwise mankind would know the truth, and potentially turn more to God more, so they act covertly through feelings and emotions that make people desire the pleasures it brings. In that way, mankind will never know that they are being controlled by evil spirits, therefore they will never disclose that the body without a spirit is dead, James 2:26.
